Future research

Clearly, the current data analysis provides an opportunity to see patterns begin to emerge. Following through on analysis of the other two already-collected data sets will throw those patterns into clearer relief. Even with those additional sets, more can be done to triangulate the data. In the long-term, I plan to do additional research.

In the graduate student data grouping, I believe that direct observation of the new media development process could help surface and clarify factors that impact the decision to engage in digital compositions. Similarly in the institutional/instructor data cluster, further study of course syllabi from other graduate programs, additional interviews with graduate instructors (including those from other institutions), and the review of other studies related to faculty new media assignment practices would aid in developing more effective strategies for encouraging production of new media scholarship by graduate students.
