My empirical study will be qualitative and inductive in nature and the pilot study will be conducted over the course of the Spring 2008 semester. The purpose of this narrative research is to discover the reasons graduate students at Old Dominion University opt or do not opt to develop new media projects in lieu of traditional written papers. I intend to frame my inquiry with narrative research based on my personal experiences and those of a classmate in composing new media projects and propose to support my exploration of the challenges associated with composing in digital media with the following:
